The easiest route from Incheon International Airport depends on your final address, not only on which service is fastest. Before you leave the arrivals area, find your hotel on a map and identify its nearest station or bus stop. Then choose between the two AREX trains and an airport bus.
AREX Express: for Seoul Station
The AREX Express runs without intermediate stops between the airport and Seoul Station. It is useful if Seoul Station is your destination or a convenient transfer point. The Korea Tourism Organization lists the airport-to-Seoul Station journey at approximately 43 minutes from Terminal 1 and 51 minutes from Terminal 2. Those are train times; allow more time for the walk to the station, ticket purchase and any onward transfer.
The Express requires its own ticket. Check the current fare and departure time before buying.
AREX All-Stop: for stations along the line
The All-Stop Train serves intermediate stations, including Hongik University Station and Digital Media City, before reaching Seoul Station. It may be a simpler choice if your accommodation is near one of those stops. VisitKorea says it accepts several types of transport card and single-use ticket.
Use the station name in your accommodation's address to compare the full journey. A nonstop train to Seoul Station can still take longer overall if you must travel back across the city.
Airport bus: check the stop nearest your stay
Airport buses serve different parts of Seoul. A bus can be convenient when its stop is close to your hotel, especially with luggage. Routes, stops and schedules vary, so search for your destination on the airport's bus page before choosing. The airport provides ticket information at the terminals.
For a late arrival, check the last train and the airport's late-night bus information. Do not assume your daytime route will still be running after midnight.
At the airport
Follow signs for Airport Railroad or Bus after collecting your bags. Incheon Airport's railroad guide shows how to reach the station from each terminal. Keep your hotel address in both English and Korean on your phone; it helps when checking a route or asking for directions.
