Overview

Seoul’s pop-up scene has evolved far beyond simple retail spaces. These temporary installations are now comprehensive brand experiences, meticulously designed with engaging photo zones, immersive content, limited-edition merchandise, and interactive elements. They offer a fantastic way to connect with Korean pop culture, discover new brands, and collect unique souvenirs.

As of July 18, 2026, our guide compiles 57 distinct events happening across Seoul and parts of Gyeonggi Province (excluding a single duplicate from the Amorepacific Museum of Art). A significant 46 of these events are currently ongoing, with 11 more set to open soon. This guide focuses primarily on major hubs like Hongdae, Yongsan, Yeouido, and Jamsil, which are bustling with activity. This coming weekend, July 19th, is particularly critical, as seven events are scheduled to conclude—so if you have your eye on any of those, make sure to plan your visit quickly!

These events are categorized by their nature, ranging from animation, K-Pop, webtoons, and cafes in areas like Mapo-gu (Hongdae) to character-driven experiences, fashion, and beauty in Songpa-gu (Jamsil). Yongsan-gu offers a mix of character pop-ups, games, and art exhibitions suitable for families and animation fans, while Yeongdeungpo-gu focuses on games, fashion, and contemporary art, perfect for dates or shopping excursions. This diverse array ensures there’s something for every interest, whether you’re a devoted fan, a curious explorer, or a family seeking entertainment.

What to Expect

When you step into one of Seoul’s pop-ups, prepare for an experience that often blends retail with entertainment. You won’t just be browsing shelves; you’ll be entering a carefully crafted world. Many pop-ups feature elaborate photo zones (포토존) that are perfect for capturing Instagram-worthy memories. Limited edition goods (한정 상품) are a common draw, creating a sense of urgency and exclusivity. Immersive content (콘텐츠 몰입) is also a growing trend, transforming spaces into captivating storytelling environments.

Here are some highlights, especially those either new or concluding soon, offering a glimpse into what you can expect:

  • For K-Pop Fandom and Photo Enthusiasts: The (G)I-DLE X Photoism Pop-up (아이들 X 포토이즘 팝업) at L7 Hotel Hongdae K-POP Square is a prime example. Ending on July 19th, this pop-up offers special photo frames and related merchandise. These spaces are often designed to separate photo-taking queues from merchandise viewing, ensuring a smoother flow for visitors dedicated to capturing their fan moment. You’ll likely see dedicated lines for photo booths and another area for purchasing fan goods.
  • For Immersive Storytelling: Dive “Into the World of Ears” at the Donggung Pop-up (동궁 팝업|귀의 세계로) in Times Square Atrium, Yeongdeungpo. Also concluding on July 19th, this pop-up leverages a content’s worldview to create an immersive experience. Expect strategic lighting, sound design, and visual barriers between experience zones to fully transport you into its universe. These are fantastic for those who appreciate detailed set design and narrative exploration.
