Check the exact address before booking. A listing that says “Myeongdong” may be closer to a different station, and the walk from the station matters when you have luggage. If you prefer quieter evenings, look at the room's location on a map instead of relying on the neighborhood name alone.
Hongdae: music, art and an active evening scene
Hongdae suits travelers who want cafés, culture and things to do after dinner. Visit Seoul describes it as a district of music and art where daytime exploring flows into nightlife. The AREX All-Stop Train also serves Hongik University Station, which can make the arrival route straightforward for some addresses.
The area covers more than the streets immediately around the station. Check your walking route to the property, especially if you will arrive late or carry large bags.
Gwanghwamun: a base for historic Seoul
Consider Gwanghwamun if palaces and older neighborhoods lead your itinerary. Visit Seoul groups Gyeongbokgung Palace, Seochon, Deoksugung Palace, Insa-dong and Bukchon with the wider Gwanghwamun area. This makes it a sensible area to investigate for a culture-focused stay.
Compare the exact station and street, not just the district label. Gwanghwamun and the nearby Jongno area cover a broad part of central Seoul.
